Identity-building landscape design

What unites everything and everyone in any given place? Why, the place itself, of course! Celebrating the uniqueness of the regional biosphere seems a natural starting point for developing local culture and identity. But the very aspects which make a place interesting and different to outsiders are often a source of indifference for the residents who see them every day. No matter what the site is , as a “professional outsider” I make sure that the local “normal” is experienced as something special.
