Labyrinth path

Labyrinth path

The environmental tenet ‘leave no trace’ underlies this feature in a moor garden. We identified certain emotions experienced in crossing a moor on foot such as the search for a way through and the feeling of trepidation–“what if I put a foot wrong?” and replicated them to exclude wet feet and the need to trample on the delicate grass stems.

The different experience according to height of the grasses makes it worth returning here at different times of year. The beams and supports are made of durable recycled plastic: at last, a use for all that packaging material we separate at home!
