We won the competition to redesign the pedestrian approach to Schönefeld airport from the railway station with this reductive design. All the airport paraphernalia was removed leaving an open green field, some fine trees and the sky beyond: Schönefeld means „beautiful field“ in German. The trees are uplit at night, the car park is screened off with a hedge, and the half-covered walkway was laid in a curve to gently enliven the travellers‘ long walk with a continuously unfolding panorama.
