Ice Age Transect for the Naturpark Dahme-Heideseen

Ice Age Transect for the Naturpark Dahme-Heideseen

The purpose of this trail is to transport groups of young children back to the early years of the landscape in which they are spending their Summer camp. At various points along a pre-existing forestry road, they are able to role-play the first creatures, including man, which found their homes in this chilly, inhospitable place. -Many of which have survived here to this day. By emotionally entering the world of the stag beetle, the spider, the swan or the ant-lion, the kids will hopefully find personal affinities which will lay the foundation for an interest in nature conservation. The inclusion of man in the picture is in accordance with the remit of the German Nature Parks, which sees human influences as not just unavoidable but potentially beneficial for certain ecosystems. This project is in the stage of funding application.
